No excuses

Hi all!

Happy Tuesday! How are you all doing today? It's a beautiful, yet cold day here in southeastern Wisconsin. Today it only feels like -11 with windchill instead of -25, like it was yesterday. Is winter over yet?!? I'll answer my own question, not by a long shot. November and December were incredibly mild, so January and February for sure, will probably be full on winter. This week our highest high is 16 and that's before windchill. It is what it is though and I'll deal with it.

This morning I realized how much I was wallowing in my sickness and emotions lately. Honestly, I just wanted to shake myself and just yell at myself. So I gave myself a little pep talk and I'm choosing to have a more positive attitude and get back to my usual happy self. I have been making excuses, plain and simple, and that needs to stop now. Yes, I am sick, but I can't change that. What I can change is how I handle it. I do need to rest, that was doctor's orders, but I still will be up and do some light working out. So this morning, I put on my exercise shoes, HRM, and ankle weights and did some walking and a little strength training.

I haven't been feeling the greatest about myself, physically, we all experience that sometimes. I have been feeling sort of discouraged because I had gained some weight back last year and clothing that was loose on me is now tighter again. Yes, it does suck that those things happened, but they did happen. It's time to look at the big picture, I'm down 23 pounds from my heaviest weight. I'm wearing a size 20 pants instead of a 24. Today I'm wearing a size XL shirt when before it would have needed to be an XXL. I've lost about 7.5% of my body weight. I can't complain about any of these things, I am smaller than I was and just losing 7.5% of my body weight has a great deal of health benefits.

Starting today I am going to be doing more strength training. I know that I can't really build a whole lot of muscle while I'm eating at a calorie deficit, but it can help me to get leaner. No more excuses this year. I want to see amazing changes in my mind and body. Losing weight will happen, as long as I continue to eat at a deficit but that's not the most important thing. Ultimately, I just want to be healthy. Healthy is not a clothing size or a number on the scale. It's how I feel about myself. I hope that you all remember this fact as well.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening. Until next time!

Weigh-In and Loneliness

Hi all!

Happy Sunday! How are you all doing today? Sorry I have been so quiet the past few days, I have taken a turn for the worse in regards to my sickness. I've been having horrendous sinus headaches and no matter what I do, they are continually getting worse. If it continues, I'll be heading in to the doctor soon. It's sort of a dreary day here as well, so how I'm feeling is correlating with the weather. We have snow on the ground (ugh!) and it's been cloudy. Tomorrow it's suppose to cool down a great deal too, so I'm not looking forward to that.

Although I just had a weigh-in on Thursday, Sunday is my official weigh-in day, so I weighed myself anyway. I wasn't really expecting much, since I had just weighed in 3 days earlier and I had an off day nutritionally on Friday. Yesterday I didn't eat a whole lot, which probably has contributed to my weight loss. This sickness is really messing with my appetite. I'm having to force myself to eat most of the time, it's a hassle. Anyways, I lost .8 pounds since Thursday.

Starting Weight: 315 lbs
Last Weight: 292.4 lbs
Current Weight: 291.6 lbs
Weight Lost: 23.4 lbs

I'll admit that I am having a really hard time emotionally lately. Honestly, I'm feeling really lonely. I'm really missing interacting with people, but especially my friends. I can't wait to start up my class tomorrow, finally I'll have some interaction with more people again. I'm trying my hardest to keep a positive attitude and not let myself drown in these feelings. Hopefully these feelings will pass soon and I'll be my happy self again.

I'm cutting this post pretty short, mostly because I'm feeling horrible and my head is pounding. I hope that you all have a wonderful evening. Until next time!

Weigh-In

Hi all!

How are you all on this beautiful Sunday morning? It's gorgeous here, a bit colder than it has been but the sun is shining today. On Tuesday and Wednesday, it is supposed to get quite cold here, so I'm not looking forward to that but I shouldn't have to go out in it, thankfully.
Although it's a beautiful day, I am incredibly bummed. Yesterday, I got a full-on cold. It's been ridiculous, I'm feeling a bit better this morning after taking some medication for it but I'm still feeling pretty crappy. I really wanted to start using my new workout equipment yesterday already but I haven't been able to yet because I'm so congested that I'm having issues breathing while I'm just sitting here. Not being able to breath while working out would probably not be ideal, so I'm trying to focus more on my nutrition until I'm feeling better. Part of me really just wants to lay in bed and not do anything but I know that's not really an option. Laying in bed and not doing anything will just make me feel worse, so today I put on some actual clothes and am trying to keep a positive attitude. Hopefully this cold will pass quickly, so I can get back to my normal routine.

On a happier note, it is almost January! I'm really psyched for it because hopefully I'll get to visit my boyfriend soon. Right now, we're just waiting on his work schedule to come out and then we're going to book a flight. It'll be nice to get away for a weekend, not to mention that I miss him like crazy. My final semester of undergrad work begins on the 12th as well, let me tell you, I am really looking forward to it. This last semester is going to be incredibly busy, especially starting in the middle of February. Either way, I'm looking forward to starting classes again, I have definitely missed them. Going from having 3 classes to none, equals a very boring time. So, it'll be nice to get busier again.

It's Sunday, so that means, weigh-in day is here. I'll be honest, I was not looking forward to my weigh-in because of the holiday and I wasn't counting calories or working out for a few days. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped on the scale this morning. I saw a 2.6 pound loss, so I was quite happy. My next weigh-in for my challenge is on Thursday, and unless I gain almost 2 pounds in 4 days, I'll have met my goal. :)

Starting Weight: 315 lbs
Last Weight: 295.8 lbs
Current Weight: 293.2 lbs
Weight Lost: 21.8 lbs

How was everyone's holiday? I had a pretty good one. On Christmas Eve, I had a coffee date with my best friend and then went to church in the afternoon. Christmas day, my family got together with my mom's side and then we had a get together with my brother's family that evening. Finally, on Friday, I got together with my close friends and we had our little get together. We went out for lunch at our favorite place in my town and had some amazing conversation. Whenever my friends and I get together, it reminds me how much I miss them all. Most of us live in different states or cities. We're all spread out around Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri, currently. This will only get worse when I move away, because I'll be the one who is the farthest away. My best friend and I were talking and the next time our entire group is together again, will probably be when one of us gets married, even then it is unknown.

Well, a very important football game is coming on shortly, so I'm heading off. I hope that you all have a wonderful day. Until next time!

Busy

Hi all!

Happy Thursday! How are you all today? It is a little cloudy here and cooler, but it is beautiful in its own way. I cannot believe it is Thursday already, this week is going by very quickly.

Things have been insane lately, I've been busy with my homework, so my stress level is quite high. I am still not all that hungry and forcing myself to eat, which is causing me to eat unhealthy sometimes and not actually counting calories. Plus a few days ago, I got foot and mouth disease, so I can barely walk and is leaving me in pain. Hopefully it will clear up within a few days and I'll be able to walk again without issue.

I am really happy to say that I am ahead in my homework this week. All I have left are 5 discussion responses and a video journal. I'm planning on doing my video journal today, along with all my discussion responses, if possible. Can I be this far ahead every week? So, I'll be researching for my finals after this weeks work is done, plus getting a head start on next weeks stuff. Next week I do have quite a bit to do, so I'll have to be working really hard again.

On a happier note, I am really enjoying that books that I have for my classes. They are incredibly interesting, so that makes it easier to do my weekly readings. Well I think it is time to go and keep working on my schoolwork. Hopefully I'll be able to post again soon. I hope that you all have a wonderful day. Until next time!

Quick Update

Hi all!

Happy Tuesday! How are you all today? I'm doing okay, a little stressed out. Sorry I've been absent lately, life has been crazy lately and its taking its toll on me. I'm trying to stay positive and calm through it all though. What are you all going to do to make today wonderful?

I am on the 8th day of not having an appetite and it sucks! Every day I have to force myself to eat at every meal and during the day, I don't realize that I need to eat until my hands get so shaky that I am unable to continue working until I eat. I've told my mom about this problem and she says that she wouldn't be complaining about not having an appetite. Sure, I would love if my normal appetite wasn't quite so big but it's really difficult when I'm not hungry all day and I have to force myself to eat. It's honestly really frustrating and I'm really tired of it, this is just adding to my current stress level.

Yesterday I was able to register for classes and while I am excited about it, I realize just how busy the next month an a half will be. I'm trying to finish up my current class, I have one paper and my final left. Thankfully my final is almost done already and I'm working on the outline for my other paper. But next session is going to be ridiculously busy, I'm taking 3 classes in 5 weeks. Yesterday all of the classes opened and I was able to write out all of the homework. So I made a chart and it takes up two pages, that's how much work I have to do. I'll barely have time to do anything besides homework, I'm trying really hard to stay calm about it and not stress out even more but it's proving difficult. Hopefully I'll get all of this weeks work done early, so I can get a head start on next sessions work.

On a happier note, my grad school application has everything sent in now and I'm waiting on the school to review it. So hopefully within the next few months, I'll know for sure if I got accepted or not. I just pray that I get accepted because that will be a huge stress off my shoulders.

I need to cut this off here though because I have a ton to get done. I hope that you all have a wonderful day. So until next time!

Frustration and Stress Sickness

Hi all!

Happy Wednesday! How are you all today? It's a bit dreary here and it has been most of the week (I don't really mind it though). I am SO enjoying these temperatures though, highs mostly in the 50s this week. This is absolutely my perfect weather. :) How are all of your weeks going?

Yesterday was just a negative day, all around. Some time after I ate breakfast yesterday morning, I begin feeling extremely fatigued, a much lowered appetite, and just completely off. I had to force myself to eat lunch by 1 pm and I was not hungry for dinner until close to 7 pm. Along with that, I just had no energy and I just wanted to lay in bed all day and just rest. It was really strange but then around 4:30 pm I understood why, a migraine came on quickly. After I took something to hopefully take the migraine away, my appetite was back and the fatigue was gone. It was all good and bad, I'm glad the fatigue was gone but my appetite could have not come back full steam.

I was in a much better mood this morning after I woke up, thankfully. So I got ready for my day and then went to have some breakfast and I realized that someone has been eating/drinking my breakfast foods. Welcome frustration! I honestly don't mind sharing my breakfast foods and I can make adjustments or replace foods but it drinks me up a wall when people eat 2 or 3 days worth of the food. Go ahead, have a serving of my food, but please leave it at that! Most of my foods only last me exactly 2 weeks and I can only go shopping every 2 weeks. The waffles that were eaten are easily replaced, I can have toast instead but my tomato juice does not have a replacement. Someone drank 4 servings of my tomato juice, where this was suppose to last me all week, only lasted 3 days! I'm just frustrated now and I'm trying really hard to not let it get to me.

All of this current stress and upcoming stress is catching up to me, I'm starting to get physical reactions to the stress. I do not have the time and energy to deal with these physical reactions, there is way too much to do. Hence why the physical reactions are occurring, but that is beside the point. :) Next week is my last official relaxation week until December, so I'm trying to work ahead some this week. If I'm able to complete things earlier this week, then I can begin next weeks work as well. And then when next week comes, I can put the finishing touches on my final and actually get a head start on my classes that will be just starting. So, I'm trying to work ahead, so I can continue working ahead. Part of me wants the rest of this week and next week to go by slowly but at the same time I want them to go by quickly. More or less, I just want to get though next session quickly, with 3 A's and then have a month break before the craziness starts again.

Well I'm going to stop here because I have a lot to get done today. So I hope that you all have a wonderful day. Until next time!

Sick :(

Hi all!

Happy Friday! How are you all doing today? I'm not doing so well today. Last night I got sick and my stomach wasn't feeling the best all night. So today I am just taking it easy, keeping it very bland on the food front and no working out. On a positive note, before I got sick last night, I was under my calorie goal. My dinner didn't last very long and I'm sure I'll be seeing it at my weigh-in this week but it's good that I was under my goal nevertheless.

I'm going to keep this post rather short today and go rest some more. I hope that you all have a wonderful day. So until next time!

Happy New Year and Life Update

Hi all!

*Looks around shyly* Wow, it has been way too long since I have last posted... Honestly, I am somewhat ashamed of myself for not posting in so long but life has been crazy. But God, I have missed blogging and it's a new year, so I want to start things up again. Do you know a big reason why I decided to start blogging again? It's somewhat silly but it's the truth, I was reading this Glee fan-fiction today (I'm still in the process of reading it) and one of the main characters is a blogger. Reading about it just made me miss blogging even more and gave me the push to start it up again.

First things first, how are you all? Oh, and Happy New Year! Can you believe it's 2014 already?!? How many of you make New Year's resolutions? Care to share any of them? I make them to an extent, but I don't like calling them New Year's resolutions. To me, those are broken too often and people make the exact same ones every year. So I call them my yearly goals and some of them are lifetime goals, to be honest. Here they are:

Get my eating back on track
      Get into an exercise routine
Pay off all of what’s past due and begin classes again
      Save more money this year
      Don’t sweat the small stuff
Be open minded and try new things
      Put others first
      Meet new people
      Start cooking again
      Communication
      Focus on the important things
Find a better paying job and keep it
      Be the light
      Make Amanda proud
Become the person I hope to be
      Just be happy
Keep moving forward and never give up
Decide where to get my Master’s

Okay, so here's the part where I talk about everything that has been happening since the end of July. Get ready for a short novel:

First, I moved back home to Wisconsin. As you may or may not know, my job out in Colorado didn't work out and I wasn't able to find another one. :( At the end of August, my parents came out to get home and we went home. Did I tell you all that I wasn't doing well physically starting toward the end of July? I honestly don't remember, but I'll tell you now either way. It was bad, one day I just got this bad headache (it was pretty much a migraine) and was feeling extreme dizziness. Things just continually got worse over the next few months and the dizziness didn't go away until November, I believe it was. The headaches are still here but I'm trying to handle them and it's much easier without the dizziness. But it was to the point where I could barely do anything, I honestly just laid in bed all day in the dark and the only sound was my fan.

God, those last few weeks in Colorado were bad. My debit card number had been stolen and so they had to shut it down and I didn't have access to any money. This was horrible because I barely had any food in my house. The last few days before my parents came to get me, I was only able to eat a few tablespoons of peanut butter each day. I lost a lot of weight in August (sadly I've gained it all back and then some now), I was down about 15 pounds or so that month. Once my mom got there, she bought a little food so we could eat and I ended up getting sick because I was finally eating properly again. It was not a fun drive back to Wisconsin with how I was feeling. The second day, we had to postpone leaving by over an hour because of how horrible I felt.

Second, I broke up with my ex-fiancĂ© back in the beginning of October. It was a difficult decision but then again, it wasn't. I loved him, no doubt about it but there was something deep down inside where I knew that it wasn't right. The main problem was that we would have to get married within 90 days of him being here and I just wasn't comfortable with that idea. You know, what if we wouldn't have hit it off in person? I wanted to be able to actually date someone in person and get to know them, spend time with them and ultimately get engaged and married but not on the government's time frame for us. Also there was something that hurt me, I guess you could say, and it played a big role in why I broke things off. There were many times where I would ask him, "why do you love me?" and he couldn't give me a concrete reason. Nothing, not a single physical or emotional trait. I could list off so many things for him but he couldn't even give me one. It hurt me and caused me to doubt his "love" for me. I honestly thought he and I were done communicating, but them on Christmas he messaged me on Facebook and said some horrible things. Not the best way to start my holiday, but it is what it is, I suppose.

Third, I started babysitting my youngest two nieces (the twins) for my brother and sister-in-law during the day because my SIL got a job with the school where my mom teaches. The pay isn't wonderful but at least I have a little extra cash and I get to spend time with two of my favorite little girls every week. :) Don't get me wrong, those little girls can be handful sometimes but I wouldn't trade this for the world. I never got to bond with my nephew like this and you can tell. It saddens me honestly, he loves me but he'd much rather spend time with other family members. Not my girl’s though, they love their aunt Sara. I will never regret being able to spend so much time with them and building the relationship that we have.

Fourth, I haven't been able to take classes for months and it's killing me! Why you ask? Well, I have to pay off this past due amount from this past semester and the summer semester, but I can't take classes again until it's completely payed off. Honestly, it makes me mad. I have a butt-load of financial aid available to me for this spring semester and I probably won't even be able to use it because of the payments that I have to make. Why on earth can my financial aid not just go into paying that off what I owe and then I can take classes again? I'm already a semester behind in my plan because of the stupid headaches/dizziness that I had last year and this is only pushing me back even further. I was supposed to be graduating in May of this year and now I have no idea when graduation will come. All I want is to be taking classes again, ugh!!

Finally, we get to December; it was a freaking crazy month, in both positive and negative ways. I might as well start with the negative. On December 12, my grandmother (dad's mom) had a massive heart attack and was in the ICU, it didn't look good right away. We were told to go and say our goodbyes, I was never close to her, but it brought back memories from Amanda's death. But things started to look up, she had a really good night and we were hopeful. Sadly, things took a turn for the worst and she died the next day (Friday the 13th). It turned out that she never really took good care of herself, she always put others first, especially my grandfather. His health hasn't been the greatest for a while, it stressed her out a lot, and I have no doubts that it played a role in her death. Her funeral was on December 18th and it was hard. Honestly, I feel bad. Her death wasn't hard for me because it was her that died, but it was because the last death and funeral I experienced was Amanda's. Does that make me a bad granddaughter?

Anyways, the next day (the 19th) was my father's birthday. Amazingly, my dad's taking his mom's death really well. But when we were at the hospital the day of her heart attack it was tough. It was the first time I ever remember seeing my father and grandfather cry. That was also the day that I saw my grandparents be affectionate around us, which never happened. They had been married for 60 years and 1 month so they just knew how they felt and didn't show it around other people. Anyways, back to the crying thing. When my mom and I got to the hospital I saw tears in my dad's eyes, I had literally never seen him cry before, my mom told me about 2 other times that he's cried (that she knows of) and they both involved me. The first was at my birth and the second was after my car accident. It was really tough, that in itself made me start to cry. You know, my mom and I may not see eye to eye with everything but I love her so much and I can't even imagine losing her. My grandmother's death did have good things become of it though. My brother and I rode of the burial site together and we just talked, that doesn't happen often. It made me realize even more just how much my brother means to me and how much I miss him.

Okay, enough sadness, now onto the happiness that December has brought me. A few days before my dad's birthday I got a text from this person who I hadn't really talked to in a few years. He's a complete sweetheart. You know, I never gave him a chance a few years ago because we're different. He is a country boy, through and through and I'm definitely not country. Jeremy's a farmer, he lives out in the country, listens to country music, very much into agriculture and pretty much anything country. Anyone who knows me knows that I am the exact opposite of that. I'm a city girl (maybe not a big city but city nevertheless) and I try to be more sophisticated and I love musicals, Broadway, and that sort of thing. Long story short, I never gave him a chance because I judged him based on petty things. Well, I'm giving him a chance this time around. We started dating on my dad's birthday and I really like him. :) He makes me happy and it's nice to be able to spend time with him in person and also through texting. We're still learning about each other but it's going good so far. I'm excited to see where this is heading and who knows, maybe I have a future with him.

This topic is one that needs to be address but I really don't want to. My weight loss (or gain in my case, currently). Even since my headaches/dizziness, I haven't been doing well. At first, I wasn't eating enough and I almost down to 250 pounds, which was my goal for this year. However, once I started eating properly again, I gained it all back and then some. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty depressing. I looked at a chart of my yearly weight loss and I am down about 11 pounds this year and it's better than gaining but it's not what I hoped. In August, I was down to 250.2 and I ended up at 278 to end the year, it's disappointing. Don't get me wrong, a loss is better than a gain, any day of the week and I'm in size 20 pants all around. That's exciting to me, because I'm still 4 pant sizes down from my heaviest and I've still lost weight. I'm not giving up, I'm going to fight to win this battle.

Starting Weight: 315
Last Weigh-In: 266.8
Current Weight: 278
Total Lost: 37

So, my game plan?

1) Starting counting calories again
2) Begin an exercise routine of some sort (at least 4 days a week)
3) Carb cycling, it helped a ton before and I felt so much better
4) Continue to blog on a consistent basis
5) Come up with a list of goals for this year
6) Just keep fighting no matter what. Never give up

Wow, okay. This turned into a short novel, sorry about that. In my defense, I had a lot to cover. I promise that you all will hear from me again soon! I love you all! So until next time!

Year 1 Day 144 (Day 509)

Hi all! How are you all doing today? I went back into the doctor today and he's fairly certain that my pain isn't caused by a ruptured ovarian cyst, but he does this that it may have to do with my sciatic nerve. He is thinking that there is inflammation around the nerve which is causing the pain, so he is starting me on an anti-inflammatory and some pain medication. The only bad thing about the medication is that it will make me very drowsy, so the doctor doesn't want me to be driving while on these medications. That means I'll have to rely on other people to take me to the doctor for the next week or so.

I've got to be honest, the past few weeks I have just done horribly with my nutrition. I know that it probably has to do with the stress, sickness, and pain that I have been experiencing. The sickness and pain, you all know about. But the stress tends to vary from day to day. I've been able to come to terms, to an extent, with Abid not being able to come online. And that being said, it's still a major struggle each day. We do get to talk on the phone a little but it's not really enough. Believe me, I realize that this is probably just as hard on Abid as it is on me, but I'm trying to remain strong. But anyways, this is playing a role in why my nutrition is going off course. It is something that I need to work on, starting now.

Today I was finally able to get all of my books ordered, I wish I would have realized it yesterday when I ordered my other book but it's better late than never. My enrollment counselor told me that I would only need to order a specific book, so yesterday that is the book that I ordered. And today as I was going through my assignment that's due in a few weeks, I realized that I need another book. So I decided to go through all of the assignments and see what books I will all need. There were 3 total books that I needed and now all of them have been ordered. Until I receive my books, I cannot continue to work on my assignments. So I am hoping that my books will arrive here in a few days.

I'm feel very tired from my medication, so I think I'm going to go lay down for a little while. Until next time.

Year 1 Day 139 (Day 504)

Hi all! It's already Thursday, can you believe it? How is everyone's week going so far? Mine is not going so hot. I went to the doctor today and I have another sinus infection, my second one in about a month and a half. So that means I'm not going to Texas with my friend and that I've got to increase my fluids and rest, plus I can't really exercise. :( It's just frustrating because I do want to exercise but it just makes it harder to breathe. I'm starting a new antibiotic later today, so hopefully it will help.

Today I'm linking up with Katie and Lex for Non-Scale Victories. Honestly, after the week that I've had, I don't really have very many.

1. I've kept up with my water in-take even though I'm sick

2. I've overcome being so emotional

button

Well my head is hurting and it's time to go lay down and get some rest (doctor's orders). I'm going shopping tomorrow with Ashley for wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. So hopefully I'll have a picture for you! Until next time.
